Israel Carries Aggression Against Residential Area of Damascus, Syria

At least three people were killed and several wounded in a new Israeli attack on Damascus, the capital of Syria, the Syrian Ministry of Defence reported.

A new attack by the Israeli occupation entity was carried out on Wednesday against a residential area of the Syrian capital, Damascus, and preliminary figures report three dead and multiple wounded.

Media reports that the number of victims of the attack is likely to increase, due to overcrowding in the area at the time of the reported attack and the presence of a mosque adjacent to the site of the attack.

The Syrian Ministry of Defence, in a press release, reported that the hostile action was directed against a three-storey residential building in the Villat Gharbieh neighbourhood of the Mezzeh district and was conducted from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, reports the Syrian Arab News Agency.

According to Al Mayadeen, several diplomatic offices are located near the site of the attack, including the residence of the Cuban ambassador and the embassy of Venezuela, located about 200 meters from the site.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry warned of international silence regarding Israel’s continued violations and crimes committed in the occupied Palestinian territories, Lebanon and Syria: «These attacks show the Israeli contempt for all international laws and conventions, and their violations of international law».

On Wednesday, Israeli troops initially confirmed eight casualties as a result of failed attempts to raid southern Lebanon. The armed wing of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement prevented such incursions and led to the withdrawal of the soldiers from the occupation.

On Tuesday, 1 October. Iran launched dozens of missiles against Israeli territory and hit military and security targets. Tehran considered it to be an operation in self-defence and in adherence to the Charter of the United Nations.

This operation was in response to the killings by the Israeli occupation of the leaders of the Hamas movement, Ismail Haniyeh, the Secretary-General of Hizbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, and the Brigadier General of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran, Abbas Nilforooshan, as well as in rejection of the aggressions on Palestine and Lebanon, with tens of thousands of civilians killed by Tel Aviv.
